Noosa Open Day FAQs

How do I enter this event?

Online entries will open on August 23 and will be available online until 5:00pm on Friday Nov 11.  Simply navigate your way to the page “ENTER” and follow the instructions.

Are there any age restrictions on entry?

Yes there are. There is no maximum age restriction, however competitors in any event must be over the following ages:

  • 1km Short Course – 10 years & older
  • 2km Long Course – 12 years & older
  • 3km & 5km Courses – 12 years & older

Competitors under the age of 18 must also have a parent or guardian present on event day.

Competitors under the age of 16 completing the 5km course must also provide written advice form a parent or coach to confirm their ability / competency over this distance.

How do I know my entry is confirmed?

Once you have completed your online entry form you will receive an automatic confirmation email. Please keep this as proof of entry.

If you do not receive this email please contact World Series Swims at info@worldseriesswims.com.au

Will I receive any other information before the event?

Yes you will. A comprehensive Competitor Briefing will be emailed to all competitors one week prior to the event and will also be available for download at www.worldseriesswims.com.au. The briefing will detail all the information you’ll need to take part including the event schedule, information on the course and support services as well as local Noosa information and site maps.

Can I enter this event on event day?

Yes you can, however only a limited amount of entries will be available on the day and a late entry fee will apply.

Will there be any timing or results?

Events will not be timed and results will not be recorded.  The Open Day is an opportunity to train and swim socially, so there are no competitive or timed events.

Are wetsuits permitted in this event?

Yes they are. Wetsuits are not typically allowed in many ocean swimming events however they are a great buoyancy aid that offer assistance to inexperienced or less confident ocean swimmers.

The decision to wear a wetsuit / speed suit / tri suit is entirely up to you.

Are fins or other swimming aids permitted?

Yes they are.  Any training aid is permitted, however those using fins, floaties, aids etc must start in an ‘Anything Goes’ wave group.

I haven’t done a lot of swimming in the ocean – is this event achievable for less experienced swimmers?

Most definitely. Each event in the World Series Swims has options to cater for all abilities.

If you are new to ocean swimming, try our 1000m Short Course and consider wearing fins and a wetsuit for extra assistance.

Where & When is Competitor Check-in?

Check-in and Late Entries will be available from the Event Site on Noosa Main Beach, in front of the Noosa Surf Club, from 8:00am.

Is there a time restriction to complete the event?

Yes there is.  The following time restrictions (nominated events) will be enforced to ensure the safety of all competitors.  Any swimmer who is yet to round the final turn inbound towards the finish will be assisted by water safety personnel.

Only experienced ocean swimmers should attempt the 5.0km course.  If you cannot comfortably complete 5.0km continuously in a pool, please consider the 3.0km course and build towards a future 5km event.

  • 3.0km – 1 hour 30 minutes
  • 5.0km – 2 hours

Are wave starts used?

Yes they are. Although events are not timed, three wave start groups will be used to ensure that those around you on the start line are of a similar ability. Please choose a wave group on event day that is suitable for you.

  • Open Wave (Competitive / Elite)
  • Mates Wave (Non-Competitive / Social)
  • Anything Goes (Fins / Floaties)
