2023 Event ProgrammeEvent UpdateCOOLY CLASSIC POSTPONED Hey gang, This morning we met with our Surf Life Saving Partners at Kirra Beach to assess conditions. We now all agree that the likelihood of conditions improving enough for any courses to be held safely on Sunday is extremely low. We have now made the decision to postpone the event and will have a new date to announce early next week. Earlier this week, the forecast showed some significant improvement on Sunday and Monday. That shift is now likely to arrive on Tuesday-Wednesday, which is obviously too late for the event. The strong Easterly swell is creating some very strong rips, currents and extremely powerful surf, making it unsafe for swimming. The ability of our water safety teams to perform rescues safely is also severely impacted in heavy surf conditions like we're experiencing – their ability to keep you safe is always a key consideration for our events. We realise some of you may already be traveling to the Gold Coast and we apologise that a decision could not be made any sooner. We always want to give events every chance of going ahead, so we need to wait until we are within a 48 hour window to assess the conditions and forecast with some level of certainty. All entries will be automatically rolled over to the new date, there is nothing you need to do for now. We will contact all participants when a new date has been confirmed.
