If you’re traveling from outside Queensland, then boat hire is an option. It is, however, an expensive option for Solo swimmers who need a boat and skipper – this option may be more viable for teams who can absorb the hire costs together, or swimmers who have their own skipper and can simply ‘dry hire’ the boat.
2021 will be the inaugural event, so boat hire companies may not be familiar with the event. It’s important that you discuss the course with them and select a boat that is capable of an offshore voyage. Some hire companies may only have inshore vessels, for use in the Gold Coast Broadwater.
Remember, you need a Support Boat AND Skipper, so please discuss the skipper requirements with them as well.
Bringing your own qualified Skipper will certainly help reduce the overall costs.
Below are local hire companies who have suitable boats and are familiar with the event. Please advise them if you DO NOT need a skipper, as they will assume you require a boat and skipper for the day.
Please contact them directly to discuss rates and requirements.
