The Mooloolaba Mile Ocean Swim| Sunshine Coast, QLD

Sunday March 26, 2023 | Mooloolaba Beach, Sunshine Coast

2022 RESULTS >>

2022 marked the 10th annual Mooloolaba Mile and we added some epic new features to celebrate!

The 1.6km Mooloolaba Mile is always the main event with thousands of Queenslanders lining up every year.  The distance is spot on for a huge range of abilities and is an ideal step up from traditional short course events.

In 2022 we introduced the Mooloolaba 5.0, a marathon distance course designed for seasoned swimmers looking to push their limits.

Events: 800m Junior Giants, 800m, 1.6km, 3.0km, 5.0km

Mooloolaba Mile (1.6km)

The main event!

One Mile (1.6km) is the most popular open water distance around the globe for a reason – it’s well within reach for beginners and a great time trial for experienced swimmers.

Beginning at Mooloolaba’s South-Eastern end (The Spit), the One Mile course (1.6km) follows an M shaped path north towards the finish line. The first turn is located directly out from the start near the Mooloolah river mouth. Midway, the course brings swimmers back towards the breakers then out again to the final turn.

Mooloolaba 5.0

This is the big one, a 5.0km marathon distance swim.

The Mooloolaba 5.0 will be contested by some of Australia’s most talented pool and open water swimmers.

The multi-lap course around the sheltered waters of Mooloolaba Beach and Mooloolaba Spit provides an excellent location to push your limits beyond the typical open water distances.

Please view our course maps and clarify the course markings on the day if you are unsure.

Mooloolaba 3.0

The Mooloolaba 3.0 is a popular distance and a great step up in distance from shorter swims.

This long course bay swim starts and finishes in the same location at Mooloolaba Beach.

Mooloolaba Half Mile (800m)

From juniors testing themselves in the open water to groups of friends battling it out for bragging rights, the Mooloolaba Half Mile (800m) can be achieved with limited training and is loads of fun!

You’ll join the Mooloolaba Mile course at the halfway mark and round the final turn before hitting the sand for a sprint to the finish.

Junior Giants (800m)

The Junior Giants events are a great opportunity for kids aged 10 – 15 years to compete with other swimmers their own age.

The Mooloolaba Mile Junior Giants course will follow the Half Mile course and finish on Mooloolaba Beach.

This year the presentations will be held in the Finish Area as soon as our last finisher crosses the line, at around 12:00pm.

Prizes will be presented for our overall place-getters (3, 2, 1) in every event.  Our age group winners in the 1.6km, 3.0km & 5.0km can collect their prizes from our Check-in tents from 11:30 – 12:30.

Please note, prizes are awarded based on our live finish line times.  Some results may still need to be adjusted, due to last minute category changes by swimmers.

If you cannot collect your prize on event day, a postage fee applies if you need us to mail it to you.
